The Conway Sportsmen’s Club was founded in 1941. We are a small club with 350 members covering 59 acres of ground that includes two lakes. The lakes are stocked with trout three times each year. The club offers rifle and shotgun ranges. Each year, Conway Sportsmen’s Club holds two youth fishing derbies. The first is held in May and is for children that are less fortunate. Each child goes home with a least one item. The prizes range from bicycles to fishing outfits. In July, the club holds a summer family picnic, which includes swimming, peddle boats, fishing, kid’s games, adult games (horse shoes), fun raffles, 50/50 drawings, door prizes, music and karaoke, food and drink. The club’s annual Gun Bash is held in August which is their largest fund raising event. Conway holds spring Lucky Target Shoots at 5pm the 4 Sunday’s before Easter and the 4 Sunday’s after Easter. The Fall Lucky Target Shoots start at 5pm the 8th Sunday before Thanksgiving. Prizes for each include turkeys, hams, beef packs, pork packs, money and a gun shoot-off. Proceeds from at least one of these shoots are used to help someone from the area that is in need. For these special events, the club donates the prizes so that all money collected goes to the recipient, including the money from the food sales. At the end of each session, we tally profits from all the shoots that weren’t “special benefits” and donate the money to others in need. The club never makes money on the Lucky Target Shoots, but everyone participating does have a lot of fun
